Dr. Marwa El-Sayed El-Sesy is an Associate Professor of Environmental Microbiology and Deputy Head of the Microbiology Department at the Central Laboratory for Environmental Quality Monitoring, National Water Research Center (NWRC), Egypt. Her research focuses on environmental microbiology, water quality, bioremediation, desalination for agriculture, the WEFE (Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems) Nexus, environmental biotechnology, and sustainable water treatment.
She has extensive experience in developing microbial and nanomaterial-based technologies for the removal of pollutants from water and wastewater. Her work includes environmental monitoring, desalination and water reuse, environmental risk assessment, advanced analytical techniques, and nature-based solutions for sustainable water management. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals and actively collaborates on multidisciplinary research addressing environmental sustainability, climate change, and circular water systems.
